A fantastic day out on the Isle of Wight, for a full-on epic ride, loads of climbing, loads of great single track, some technical. This is a 30 miler with brief chat stops but no lunch break until the end. It’s not for beginners, it’s a tough day out and technical in places but anyone who regularly climbs up and down the Purbecks should be fine.
Aim to be at ferry terminal for 0900 if you need to buy your ticket. Park in Lymington outskirts, before you go over the level crossing, otherwise you’re left with the expensive ferry car park. If you’re organised, in advance you can exchange Tesco clubcard vouchers for WightLink ferry tickets. Must be done in advance, allow at least 3 days for the codes to come through, but £5 in vouchers gets you £15 towards the £17 ticket price. Ferry leaves 0915 sharp and we usually catch either the 1520 or 1620 ferry back to Lymington. Call Neil if you’re coming or need more info, ride will be cancelled if it’s very wet as it’s no fun on the wet, slippy chalk! (07876 296125)
