Ride Calendar -

Dorset rough rider rides and social events will be posted on the calendar below, some of our rides are regular, and some are posted at short notice, so be sure to check back to see if new rides have been posted.

Lights are essential on evening rides, October to March, and may be required during April and September.

The Spread of Coronavirus (COVID-19)
As a Club, the DRR needs to consider the latest guidance from the UK Government, PHE and NHS and also follow guidance from British Cycling.

We are now happy to inform you that we are resuming group rides and these will be published on our members only Facebook page and/or in the Ride Calendar below.

Please be aware that we are only allowed to offer group rides to a maximum of 6 per group including the ride leader. These also have to be pre-booked with the ride leader who will publish contact details.

Please DO NOT turn up if you have not been accepted as we do not wish to disappoint you by turning you away.

  • All ride bookings will take place via the Facebook members page and/or directly with the ride leader by direct messaging
  • We will post available rides on a Thursday for the following Saturday and on a Sunday for the following Wednesday
  • All rides will be booked on a first come first served basis and you must express your intention to ride with the ride leader as they will be controlling the allocation of up to 5 riders
  • All rides will start from different locations and this will be designated by the ride leader – please be sure you are aware of where you are supposed to meet and what time
  • The 2 m social distance protocol should still be adhered to at all times

Please still consider the Government guidelines when riding:

  • You may exercise outdoors as many times each day as you wish.
  • You can only exercise alone, with those you live with or with up to five other people from outside your household.
  • You should maintain a distance of at least two metres from anyone you meet from outside your household while out riding, stopping and waiting for people to pass at a safe distance when necessary. This is particularly important when riding on narrow paths and trails.
  • You can sit and rest outside before, during and after your ride.
  • You may drive to outdoor publicly accessible open spaces irrespective of distance, but should follow social distancing guidance while you are there.
  • In line with UK Government guidance, those aged over 70 should continue to take particular care to minimise contact with others outside their household.
  • When cycling in Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland, you should follow the guidance and regulations issued by the relevant devolved administration.
  • If you are showing coronavirus symptoms, or if you or any of your household are self-isolating, you should stay at home.

Riding bicycles off road can be a dangerous pastime. Dorset Rough Riders promotes safe and responsible cycling. Riders attending club rides do so at their own risk. Neither the club nor any of its members will be held responsible for any accidents or injury sustained on rides. Please ride within the limit of your fitness and ability. If you are unwilling to ride any part of the route, please dismount and walk through the section. Under 16’s must be accompanied by a responsible adult.

Usually under 25km (15 miles) with few hills and challenging sections. A slow paced ride with many stops.

25-40km (15-25 miles) with more hills. A faster pace and more challenging terrain with fewer stops. Not for beginners.

40-65km (25-40 miles) with bigger (10-15 minute hills) and longer challenging sections. Definitely not for beginners.

Challenging in both terrain and pace, probably all-day rides for experienced mountain bikers only.
